About DispatchDrills

What we are
DispatchDrills is an independent practice site for people applying to work as 911 dispatchers, call-takers and public-safety telecommunicators in the United States. It launched in July 2026. We are a small independent publisher of practice tests for public-service hiring, and we are not connected to any test publisher or agency (see our disclaimer).
How the practice material is built
Each module trains one skill that agencies publicly say their dispatcher assessments measure — data entry, cross-referencing, character comparison, typing, math, spelling, reading, memory, prioritization, decision making, map reading, listening and multitasking. We start from what agencies and test publishers describe in their own candidate guides and job postings, and build a drill for the skill rather than a copy of anyone's exam.
Some modules are generated: records, plates, tables and sums are produced fresh on every run, so you cannot run out of practice or memorize answers. Others are written question banks, where every item has an explanation of why the answer is right. Where an answer depends on judgement — which call to take first, what to ask a caller — the explanation says it reflects general practice, because protocols differ between agencies and yours is the one that counts.
Audio drills use synthetic voices. Every name, address and phone number on the site is fictional.
What we check, and what we won't claim
Hiring facts — state training requirements, typing speeds asked for in postings, which assessments agencies use — are checked against official sources, and the pages that state them say when they were last checked.
We do not publish pass marks, cut scores or pass rates. Each agency sets its own, and the universal figures that circulate online are unsourced. We do not claim our material is the real test, and we never ask for or accept content from a live examination.
Corrections
If something on the site is wrong or out of date for your agency or state, please tell us. We read every message and fix confirmed errors.
